16th century Tuscan writing-desk-papercase

Tuscan writing-paper desk from the 16th century.
Walnut wood with pine structure.
With signs of inactive xylophages.
The lock is missing.
It presents faults. It needs restoration.
Measurements: 57 x 103 x 43 cm; 93 cm (open).

This exceptional desk-desk has a parallelepiped shape with a hinged front lid. In its interior it has a variegated carved decoration, tending to horror vacui, with chapels and temples of Renaissance heritage, although already entered in the baroque style. The detailing of each element stands out: the acanthus leaves that embellish the plinths, the columns of fluted shaft and Corinthian capital, the goblets or the volute finials have been carefully elaborated, giving rise to a balanced whole in spite of the multiplicity of elements. The outer sides of the cabinet follow a carved pattern of baroque forms.
