Novohispanic tapestry of the XIX century. The work stands out for the delicate ornamental work that is based on plates of tortoiseshell simile arranged on the wooden core. As for the ornamentation, despite the slight wear caused by the passage of time, you can appreciate the aesthetic pattern based on plant elements arranged throughout the chest, except for the base. These have a dynamic design, since the elements are repeated rhythmically, and a symmetrical finish, which helps to order the composition. The hardware of the piece has not only been conceived in a functional way, but also presents an aesthetic finish in which the author has played with geometric shapes.

Novo-Hispanic craftsmanship would reach very high levels of finesse and quality worthy of European works. Western tradition was joined by the roots and cultural heritage of the workplaces where the artisans displayed great talent both in the execution of the works and in the creation of especially novel and original models and decorations.
