Italian table of the seventeenth century.
Marble.
It is possible that the top and legs did not originally form a set, but both are from the 17th century and the assembly is old.
The top has cracks and chamfers.
Measurements: 79 x 158 x 79 cm.

Italian table from the Baroque period. The rectangular top in solid marble marbled in earthy tones in different shades of brown and black combines with two marble legs with protruding shoulders and puffed edges. These are two soffits worked on the exterior side with the inlay of different pieces of marble: sections in red marble bordered with yellow and a center in the form of a bluish tondo with beautiful marbling are compartmentalized with moldings, borders and scrolls in white marble. This combination of different marbles as mosaics was common in Italy, especially in Florence, since the Renaissance, reaching its peak in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. In the table in question, the top and the supports may have had different origins, but they were already assembled at that time. Indeed, the combination of the geometry of the top and the bulbous profile of the base responds to the taste of the time, of rococo influence. Also the preference for marble from the best quarries.
