Mirror with carved and gilded wood core. It has a rectangular profile, with curved upper corners, and a design of floral vegetation in the frame rails. Finishing off the composition, we are presented with a central top with vegetation worked in relief and fretwork.
This type of pieces were highly valued during the period, as the taste for decorative arts increased in the European courts at the end of the 18th century, and throughout the 19th century, when superfluous luxury and the desire to possess small and exquisite things spread among the nobility and the high bourgeoisie.
