Console and mirror of neoclassical style, following the models of the Louis XVI style. Both pieces have a wooden structure, entirely polychromed with gold motifs on a white background, matching the marble of the top. The decorative motifs, typically neoclassical, are carved in relief, and combine scrolls and leaves. Above the console is a tall mirror with a rectangular molded frame, entirely carved and topped by a large carved and fretworked top, with a vase from which emerge wide scrolls.
This type of pieces were highly valued during the period, since the taste for decorative arts increased in the European courts at the end of the 18th century, and throughout the 19th century, when superfluous luxury and the desire to possess small and exquisite things spread among the nobility and the high bourgeoisie.
