This monumental portico could have been originally the front of a large bookstore. Its architectural structure shows an elegant neoclassical design, characteristic of the reign of Charles IV. Four fluted pilasters support an entablature and organize the symmetry of the whole. They hold three glazed panels, the central one ending in a semicircular arch and the lateral ones in a pointed arch. The bases of the pilasters and the lower part of the doors are decorated with fine carving and gilded wood carving, applied in synthetic vegetal compositions. This vegetal work harmonizes with the foliated ornaments of the handles. At the level of the capitals, volutes of a synthetic and freely recreated Ionic order finish off the fluted shafts. In the cornice area, different types of moldings coexist: gadrooned crests and drips ornamented with vegetal fretwork.
