Ebonized wood entablature, covered with Boullé decoration combining gilded bronze. On a frieze decorated with imperial motifs inspired by Greco-Roman designs, masks decorated with laurel leaves and acanthus. The central soffits are decorated in the Boullé style, with bronze applications that start with a central figurative design of classicist aesthetics. This design expands across the field, creating rhythmic patterns based on vegetal stylizations. In Napoleon III's time, the use of Boullé type marquetry was frequent, in accordance with the designs that the famous cabinetmaker popularized while working for King Louis XIV. The interior of this sober-looking piece of furniture consists of three shelves.
