French bureau bureau type desk, dated around 1790, from the period and in the Directory style, made in mahogany. It presents a clear and balanced structure divided into two markedly differentiated bodies. The lower body stands on four typically neoclassical legs in the form of stylised fluted columns, narrowing towards the base. The outer front of this lower body houses five drawers, two on each side and a longer one above the central opening, all of which have independent locks. Above the drum, there is also an upper section with another three drawers. Inside, the sample follows the same neoclassical criteria of simplicity and geometry, combining narrow drawers and short cuts, in a structure organised into lanes. Under the drum lid is a pull-out tray that provides a large, leather-covered writing surface. The upper body has grooved sliding doors on the outside and a classic, architecturally inspired structure on the inside, with shelves, drawers and a central body topped by a triangular tympanum.
