The Portulan Atlas is a facsimile work published in 1994 by the publisher Javier Boronat, which reproduces an outstanding atlas of medieval navigation. The original work, attributed to Joan Martines, was made in the 16th century and is presented as one of the most relevant examples of the portulan atlases of the time, used by navigators for maritime orientation. This atlas, which is characterized by its high quality and precision in cartographic representation, includes several detailed maps showing the coasts of the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and North Africa, along with navigation routes, ports and other essential elements for sailors of the time. The facsimile reproduction of this atlas preserves fidelity in both content and original support, allowing readers to appreciate the maps with their color details, decorations and texts. This facsimile is presented as a piece of great historical and bibliographical value, intended for scholars of medieval cartography, historical navigation and the history of geographical discoveries.
