Circa 1900 medal made by Frederic Vernon in 18k yellow gold. This star-shaped pendant shows an image of the Virgin and Child in arms, with a halo adorned with rose-cut diamonds and blue plique-à-jour enamel. Signed F. VERNON.

Frederic de Vernon won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1897, he was a student at the School of Decorative Arts with Julien Duval, whose Maison specialized in editions of medals of artists and sculptors since 1885. Many of his medals and jewelry are in museum collections around the world. Therefore, the pendant in this auction offers a unique opportunity to own a small piece of Art Nouveau history.
