Violin made by Carlo Antonio Testore who was the eldest of Carlo Giuseppe's sons, and his instruments still show the Grancino mark visible in his father's work. In general, Carlo Antonio's work seems rushed and less distinguished, often with false fillets on the back and flat-backed headstock. This lack of refinement in execution may be due to the somewhat premature death of his father, who left Carlo Antonio and his 16-year-old brother Paolo in charge of the business. Carlo Antonio's son Giovanni helped him towards the end of his career.
