This photograph was on exhibition at the Galeria Espai Cavallers (Lleida, Spain) during the solo exhibition "Dear Diary". A generational portrait between glitch, nostalgia and identity. In Sign In, Lídia Vives turns the body into a canvas where icons, phrases and memories that marked an entire generation are inscribed: those born in the 90s. The photography, with the aesthetics of a set letter and television aesthetics, evokes an era in which pop culture, emerging technology and innocence not yet domesticated coexisted in the same channel. From Britney Spears and Evangelion to Tamagotchi and Petit Suisse, each symbol tattooed on the skin triggers a memory, an emotion or a smile. The body, covered with references, becomes a living archive, a collective memory.
Sign In is, at the same time, a celebration and a critique: to hyper-stimulated childhood, to the construction of identity through the media and to the way the past is imprinted - literally - on us.

"Sign In" is more than a photograph: it is an emotional password to reconnect us with who we were.

Lídia Vives is a photographer and visual artist based in Barcelona. She has exhibited in museums and galleries such as the Louvre and the Saatchi Gallery, and has been published in media such as Vogue Italia or Esquire. Her work mixes pop aesthetics, social criticism and pictorial references to create powerful, beautiful and uncomfortable images at the same time.
