Member of the Royal Photographic Society. Yago Parga Cunqueiro was born in 1977, and began taking photographs in a self-taught way since he was given his first camera at the age of eight. In 2011 he begins to train as a photographer taking several courses in the Blankpaper collective, and later at the MadFoto school, and with photographers such as José B. Ruiz, Manuel Zambrana and Julio Álvarez Yagüe. During this period he publishes some portrait photos in a report in the newspaper ABC. In 2019 he becomes a member of the Real Sociedad Fotográfica and comes into contact with different photographers and begins to show his photographs and participate in various competitions, exhibitions and projects.
He collaborates in several group exhibitions of the winning photographs of the social competitions held in the RSF, and in exhibitions at the Ducal Palace of Medinaceli, at the Nicolás Salmerón center and at the Paseo de Recoletos in Madrid. He also publishes in several photography books, including several editions of the catalogs of the RSF Social Competitions and in the photobooks of Portraits of a diverse commerce in the Lavapiés neighborhood of Madrid.
His photography shows a personal look at the way of seeing the world around us that seeks to awaken feelings and raise doubts in the viewer so that he or she can position themselves and choose their own interpretation of the images in contrast to a world in which images in social networks and post-truth show a manipulative discourse of reality.
