Tracey Moffatt is an Australian Indigenous artist who primarily uses photography and video. In 2017 she represented Australia at the 57th Venice Biennale with her solo exhibition "My Horizon". Although best known for her photographic works, Moffatt has created numerous films, documentaries and videos. Her work often focuses on Aboriginal Australians and how they understand themselves in cultural and social terms. Moffatt's first short film was Nice Coloured Girls, made in 1987[11]. It is a 16-minute story of three young Aboriginal girls who roam Sydney's King's Cross entertainment district in search of fun, presented in a context of cuts to the historical oppression of Indigenous women by white men.
Her works are held in major art collections including the Tate, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
