This piece by Constantino Ciervo, an artist committed to current issues, should not be understood as a kinetic divertimento in itself but as part of the conceptual framework of this multimedia creator concerned with issues such as freedom, power, urbanism and the flow of information.
Costantino Ciervo is an Italian artist based in Germany. Costantino Ciervo grew up in Naples. From 1980 to 1982 he studied Economics and Politics at the University of Economics and Commerce in Naples. After leaving his studies, he started working as a freelance artist. In 1983 he taught screen printing and photomechanics at the juvenile centre on the island of Nisida in the Gulf of Naples. In 1984 he moved to Berlin, where in 1988 he began studying philosophy and art history at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1993 he took part in the Venice Biennale. Costantino Ciervo is a member of the Association of German Artists. He lives and works in Berlin. In his video installations, Ciervo addresses the existence of man in today's society, the prevailing economic systems and the rapid regional and global developments, as well as possible strategies for liberation. He addresses current issues such as upheavals in the field of science, technological and genetic research, information and communication technologies, terrorism, ethics and complexity. In 2016, he launched his long-term participatory art project "SendProtest!" with a mobile app and an online archive. Some of his installations and video sculptures, as well as the "SendProtest!" archive, are on permanent display at the Fluxus Plus Museum in Potsdam. Exhibitions (selection): 2020: Amuse-bouche.
