BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
VICTOR LEXA (Czechoslovakia, 1875-1925).
"Female nude with sword", 1915.
Bronze sculpture.
Signed and dated.
Measurements: 48 x 18 cm. Base: 7 cm.
In this sculpture of maturity Victor Lexa gives us a sculpture of serene simplicity in the posture and great harmony in the forms. The limbs are soft and rounded, denoting the anatomy as a whole a sense of calm and solidity, with which the author seems to reinvent classicism. The beauty of the female body is not only seen in her balanced body, but also in her shapely face. The meticulously crafted hairstyle is completed with a diadem that, together with the sword, tells us of the young woman's belonging to the medieval period.
