ODILE KINART (Netherlands, 1945).
"French bulldog".
Bronze, specimen 8/20.
Signed with initials and numbered.
Measurements: 40 x 30 x 35 cm.
Kinart showed special predilection for the animal kingdom, making sculptures of dogs, cats and horses in a variety of materials. This nice bulldog, with rounded forms, in patinated bronze expresses the artist's ingenuity in combining quality and playful spirit. Odile Kinart was born in 1945 in Belgian Limburg and studied sculpture at the Art Academy in Genk. She showed a special interest in literature as a language teacher in secondary school. The affinity to poetry could only find further expression in the visual arts. Pre-Columbian and African cultures deeply inspired Odile Kinart. From 1990, this Flemish artist became known for her ceramic creations. Since 1995, the artist has preferred bronze as a visual material. Later, she also worked with glass and polyester, and recently also with steel. Odile is still actively producing sculptures and has exhibited in Europe and the United States.
