French sculptor of the end of the XIX century, Léon Bureau specialized in the sculptures of round bulk of small format representing animals, as much exotic as local, domestic and wild. He developed his training as a disciple of Falguière, and participated for the first time in the Paris Salon in 1884. From then on, he regularly exhibited his works there, mainly plaster models that he later edited in bronze. His works are currently preserved in private collections in various European countries.
