Diederik van Apple was born and raised in Leiden, The Netherlands. In his childhood he was addicted to all Tin Tin comics, Walt Disney, Marvel books and legendary movies like The Godfather, Scarface, Pulp Fiction and James Bond. He loved to watch, read and get right into the stories, as if he were part of the artwork himself. Van Apple's art is a combination of digital techniques such as photography and famous features. He has also developed parallel pop sculptural work. The basis of the art is aluminum or gold foil, to which he adds holograms, colors, glitter, diamonds and other handcrafted elements. All works are finished by hand with several layers of epoxy. By adding these layers he manages to create innovative and unique multimedia art with a fantastic 3D effect.
