"Female head".
Bronze sculpture.
Marble base.

Measurements: 42 x 22 x 15 cm.
Josep Maria Bohigas Masoliver was formed in the pictorial school of Olot, although later he would receive sculpture classes with Josep M. Camps, in the School of Llotja of Barcelona. In addition to working as a painter and sculptor, he would also be a teacher, giving classes in the specialty of polychromy at the same Llotja School in Barcelona. His work is almost always of religious themes, and has the particularity of being polychromed, mostly with a special technique that does not hide the line left by the carving tool. He was also polychromator of the sculptors Frederic Marès and Josep Clará. Among his works are the cult images of the church of Santa Maria de Banyoles, and especially the St. Peter and St. Paul that adorn the facade of the cathedral of Girona. He also made a sculpture for the image of Santa Coloma, for the parish church of Santa Coloma de Queralt.
