The Athena Giustiniani is a Roman marble sculpture inspired by classical Greek models. It is believed to be a 1st or 2nd century AD copy of a Greek original, possibly from the 5th century BC.
The piece shows the goddess of war with her characteristic helmet, an aegis with the Gorgon's head on her chest and a serene posture, conveying majestic power. Its name comes from the Giustiniani family, who owned it before it became part of the Vatican collections.
Its style reflects the idealization of the divine figure, with harmonious proportions and a face of restrained expression, typical of classical art.
