BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

BANKSY (Bristol, England, 1975).
"Palestine, Hope".
Painted resin.
Made exclusively for sale at the Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem.
Measurements: 2,5 x 9 x 9,5 cm.

Piece made by Banksy at the "Walled Off Hotel", Palestine. In March 2017, the "Walled Off" (Walled Off) hotel in the Palestinian city of Bethlehem is inaugurated. With a slogan advertising it as the hotel with "the worst views in the world," it is located opposite the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank. All of its rooms are decorated by Banksy, and its stated aim is both to attract tourists to the city and to expose works by Palestinian artists to an international and Israeli audience. In a small museum located inside the hotel is a statue of Lord Balfour signing his famous declaration. Banksy created a collection of miniature sculptures resembling the wall, adorned with graffiti and messages. The result was a unique set of memorabilia that captured the essence of the West Bank barrier.
Located just meters from the Israeli West Bank barrier, the Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem is an exceptional space that offers visitors an immersion into the problem of the barrier. The hotel is adorned with Banksy's striking artwork, which provides a powerful and poignant political and social commentary on the region.
