A niche holds the image of the Virgin and child in the purest Renaissance style.
The sculptor Adolphe Itasse was trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the workshops of Jean-Hilaire Belloc and Georges Jacquot. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1864. He was awarded a third class medal in 1875 and then a medal of honor at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1889. Today his work is preserved in museums in the United States (Chrysler Museum of Art and Huntington Library), France (Museum of Fine Arts of Nantes or in the Louvre Palace in Paris).
