Sculptural group in round bulk of devotional theme. Stylistically it is inscribed in the neoclassicism and represents Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus. Joseph, a figure that traditionally was relegated to second place in the Christian iconography, from the eighteenth century (and even before, during the Counter-Reformation) began to take greater prominence in order to emphasize the human and familiar nature of the biblical figures.
