DESCRIPTION

"Female nude dancing".

Josef Lorenzl offers us a typical Art Decó ornamental sculpture in round bulk with the form of a beautiful woman of stylized anatomy although naturalistic, executing a dynamic dance step, raised on a single foot, with a raised leg, the inclined body and the face with glance to the air. It is a realistic work in its modeling but rigorous and geometric in its composition, perfectly reflecting the aesthetic basis of Art Deco.
Joseph Lorenzl developed his activity mainly between 1910 and 1940, fully immersed in the Art Deco style, of which he was one of the most famous and prolific representatives. Based in Vienna, he stood out for immortalizing ethereal and elegant dancers, nude or dressed in futuristic or exotic costumes, which he sometimes cold polychromed. He worked for firms such as Keramos or Goldscheider. He participated in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1928. He is represented in the Museo Casa Lis, as well as in international museums dedicated to Art Deco, and various private collections.
