Dorothea Charol was a German sculptor of the Art Deco period. Charol studied in Dresden at the Richter art school with Arthur Lange, in Brussels at the university, in Munich at the Studio Schwägerle and in Italy. She worked in Berlin, among other places. She was recognized as an artist from 1916 at the Munich Secession and at other exhibitions, such as the December exhibition at the Neues Museum (Berlin) in 1916. She produced portrait busts, as well as life-size nudes and figures, and worked as a designer of figurative porcelain. In the 1920s, Charol created models for numerous porcelain factories, including the Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur and the Unterweißbacher Werkstätten für Porzellankunst. He modeled exotic dancers based on the tales of "The Thousand and One Nights" for the Rosenthal porcelain factory. Some of her works in bronze and ivory were produced by the Berlin firm Rosenthal & Maeder. Together with her husband, the painter and graphic artist Adolf Köglsperger (1891-1960), Charol was a member of the artists' association Die Abstrakten.
