Paul Aichele

Paul Aichele was a German sculptor. He attended the School of Applied Arts in Stuttgart (in German, Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart) and then in 1880, he entered the school of the Museum of Arts in Berlin (in German, Kunstgewerbemuseums Berlin.). Aichele has lived in Berlin ever since. Aichele's most important work is the statue Sintflutbrunnen (Fountain of Floods), which until 1931 stood on Hamburger Platz in the Berlin district of Friedenau, and in 1932 was moved in the same district to Maybachplatz (since 1961 Perelsplatz): a naked man holds in his arms his wife who lies fainting, and at the top a woman protects her child in the last safe place against the floods.
