Graduated in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, Jorge Varas says on his own website "Sometimes the sculpture behaves like a living being, as if it had its own life cycle, a fact that always surprises the sculptor himself. During many days of work and effort in which no results are seen, suddenly the work appears as if it had its own internal pulse, as if it acquired its own temperature, in spite of everything as if it had not been the result of an exercise of the will. What is the particular will contrasted with the vital cycles of reality? It must be integrated into these cycles. But this will becomes present in small details such as the blood that stains the sculpture coming from the hand that rubs the wood when carving it".
