BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

WILLY RAMOS, (Colombia, 1954).
"Butterflies playing hide and seek", 2003.
Hand painted iron.
Signed.
This work is auctioned with the purpose of raising funds to support the victims of the DANA in Valencia.
Work donated by Willy Ramos.
Measurements: 45 x 45 x 23 cm.
Willy Ramos emigrated at the age of fourteen from his hometown, Pueblo Bello, to Valencia, where he currently resides. In this city he studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos, graduating in 1974. Since then he has not stopped holding exhibitions, both individual and collective. Later he completed his studies with a course at the School of Contemporary Mural Painting of Sant Cugat del Vallès, in Barcelona, and another of Engraving and Lithography at the State Art Institute of Urbino, in Italy. He also holds a Doctorate Cum Laude in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and is a full professor at the same university. His paintings are reminiscent of those of great 20th century masters such as Kandinsky or Matisse; instead of literally representing his favorite subjects -flowers, landscapes and figures-, Willy Ramos paints an idea about nature, and does so with a vibrant chromatism, working in oil, watercolor and charcoal. This painter has exhibited in various art galleries and art centers, and it is also worth mentioning his participation in international fairs such as Art Madrid, ARTBO or those of Toulouse, Marbella, Milan, Parma or Miami, among others. He is currently represented in centers and institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art of Elche or the Caja Mediterráneo Collection, among others.
