During the 20th century the Basque school lived a splendor and a resurgence of the aesthetic forms becoming a center of great artistic interest thanks to the development of painting and sculpture. Starting from the idiosyncrasy of the popular culture of the Basque Country, the artists reformulated the concepts providing a new image, but with a great symbolic load linked to the land and tradition.
