This sculpture is inspired by the iconography called "blackmoor", which became popular in Venice in the seventeenth century, thus also defining exotic people from outside Europe. They are also known as "Moretti" in honor of the "Moor of Venice". In this type of pieces they were used as figures in different artistic disciplines; in sculpture as servants with trays or holding points of light, in architecture "holding" the facades of buildings and as for the decorative arts also as pieces of jewelry. Our piece rises on a pedestal covered by a starry layer.
