Spanish school of the eighteenth century.
Pair of Rococo angels.
Carved and polychrome wood.
They have some flaws in the polychrome and wood.
Measurements: 30 x 22 x 15 cm. each one.
Pair of polychrome wood carvings representing two angels mancebos. They are figures of infantile anatomies and plump cheeks. They adopt graceful postures that almost look like dance steps, following stylistic precepts of the Rococo period. A cloth hangs from their shoulders, although barely covering their naked bodies, and flutters in the wind with dynamic draperies printed on them. Despite the similarity in the modeling of the anatomies and faces, each angel adopts a slightly different gesture. The pieces are worked in detail, in rounded bulk. The wings have been finely chiseled. It is likely that originally the couple was part of a larger sculptural ensemble.
