BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Sideboard GÉRARD GUERMONPREZ (France, 20th century) for Magnani.
Oak mances and original black melanin.
Sliding doors and interior shelves.
Slight patina on the wood of the top.
Measurements: 85 x 140 x 40 cm.
The success of Gérard Guermonprez was due to its simple and functional wooden furniture, known for its durability, like the one we now present. With three truncated profile support points, the tender sideboard features a large main body with two sliding doors in two shades: black (black melanin) and French oak (lighter brown).
Trained at the Boulle School in Paris, he exhibited his creations at the Salon des Arts Ménagers for more than twenty years. From 1957, he began a fruitful collaboration with the Magnani cabinetmaking workshop, designing a wide range of interior furniture. This partnership expanded the distribution of Guermonprez's creations, which were sold in Paris (especially at Bobois and Roche), in the provinces and even in North Africa (Casablanca, Oran, Algiers).
