BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
MAURIZIO PEREGALLI (Varese, 1951) for ZEUS.
Pair of chairs, ca. 1980-90.
Wood, lacquered iron and rubber.
With publisher's label.
Shows wear in some areas.
Measurements: 80 x 40 x 40 cm.
Pair of chairs of minimalist design, characterized by an iron structure that balances orthogonal lines and subtle functional details. Square section legs are complemented by slanted strands that decorate the backrest. The seats, slightly concave in shape for ergonomics, are covered with wooden slats, adding warmth to the whole. Both the backrest and seat edges are finished with black rubber tubing, a detail that not only softens the contact, but also emphasizes its sophisticated industrial aesthetics.
In 1984 he founded ZEUS with a group of friends, later becoming artistic director. He has always had a profoundly minimalist approach to design. A tireless researcher of new materials, he twists and shakes up the uses of industrial-type elements. Since 1980 he has collaborated with several companies, including Giorgio Armani, Replay, Furla and Giglio Palermo, for whom he designs, plans and builds fashion boutiques in Italy and abroad. For years he has been a promoter of exhibitions and cultural events, giving new designers, artisans and young producers from all over the world the opportunity to exhibit their prototypes, get to know each other and make themselves known.
