Christian Ghion trained at the ENSCI (École nationale de création industrielle). He has designed sets for several exhibitions at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Fondation Cartier and the Musée de la Poste. His work is also in the collections of the Fonds national d'art contemporain, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
Founded in 1946 by Enrico Cappellini in Carugo, in the province of Como, the company initially focused on the production of office furniture, but in the 1950s began collaborating with emerging designers to create innovative, high-quality furniture. Collaborations with more established names date back to the 1960s and led the brand to establish itself as a worldwide reference in the sector in the 1980s and 1990s. The creation of innovative and avant-garde pieces, such as Marc Newson's iconic "Embryo Chair" and Jasper Morrison's "Thinking Man's Chair", has helped consolidate Cappellini's position in the contemporary design landscape. In 2004, Giulio Cappellini, Enrico's son, took over the creative direction of the company, bringing a new energy and innovative vision. Under his leadership, Cappellini continued to collaborate with talented designers and introduce new "sculptural products" that combine form, function and contemporary aesthetics.
