Chair created with cotton strings on a stainless steel structure as support. The Vermelha chair is one of the first creations of the bell brothers and currently the MoMA has the model in its collection. The brothers bought a large bundle of rope from a street stall and brought it to their studio. They carefully studied the chaotic shape formed by the construction of the strings as they were stacked on a table. "At that moment we both looked at each other and almost simultaneously said: this is the chair we want to build. It is a representation of Brazil in its beautiful chaos and deconstruction."
Fernando and Humberto Campana, born in 1961 and 1953 respectively, established Estudio Campana in 1983, marking a turning point in contemporary design. Their approach focuses on the use of unconventional materials, creating unique pieces that stand out for their transformative and experimental character. Through their work, they give new life to elements such as pieces of wood, leftover fabrics, plastic tubes, cables and even stuffed toys, fusing art and functionality.
