BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

MICHEL CADESTIN (France, 1942) for Airborne.
Karaté" armchair.
Fiberglass shell, new upholstery in optima petrol blue leather.
As new.
Measurements: 93 x 90 x 90 cm.

Armchair designed by Michel Cadestin and produced by Airborne. It inherits the Space Age aesthetics in its rounded profiles that, in addition, maximize the comfort of its seats for its enveloping condition. Upholstered in petrol blue leather, with quintessential comfort and elegance. It is a model that combines avant-garde and tradition, being a design inspired by the space age but nourished by the heritage of the timeless values of good craftsmanship.

A prolific designer, he has experimented with shapes and materials throughout his career. His designs are as varied as the furniture for the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1976, the Karaté armchair (1960s) and the work table created in 1978. Biography Michel Cadestin was born in France in 1942. He studied at the famous Ecole Boulle and also graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. He later joined the Société des Artistes Décorateurs. In 1970 he met Christian Ragot, with whom he began researching materials such as latex foam and plastic, and with whom he developed housing concepts. He also worked in an interior architecture studio called Teda until 1983. He then decided to set up his own agency to continue designing furniture and home accessories. Throughout his career he also partnered with Daniel Bernard, with whom he designed numerous pieces of furniture. In 1988, his work was awarded the René Gabriel prize. Today, he focuses his work on interior architecture.
