BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

CARLO URBINATI (Rome, 1949) for Guzzini.
Floor lamp "Guzzini Galdino", 70s.
Plastic material and chromed metal.
It presents marks of use according to the use and the passage of time.
With Harvey Guzzini label.
Measurements: 175 x 60 cm.

Stylized floor lamp composed of a black chromed metal body and hemispherical base. Minimalist and light composition topped by two futuristic-looking, mobile lampshades.

Architect and designer, Carlo Urbinati studied at the Faculty of Architecture. In 1972 he began working as a product designer for several Italian companies operating in various sectors, including furniture. He focused his studies on plastic materials and collaborated with numerous international companies in Austria, Japan, Australia and Spain.

Harvey Guzzini is often mistakenly thought to be the name of a lighting designer from the 1960s and 1970s. In reality, the brand actually belongs to a lighting company founded by the six Guzzini brothers - Raimondo, Giovanni, Virgilio, Giuseppe, Adolfo and Giannunzio - inspired by the 1950 film Harvey, starring James Stewart. To further complicate the story, it seems that the Guzzini company changed brands several times in the 20th century, going through Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, iGuzzini and Illuminazione Guzzini.
