Captivating floor lamp designed by Angelo Lelli for Arredoluce. The name "Polyphemus" (model 12555) refers to the cyclopean monster of the Homeric Odyssey. The cyclops eye is suggested to us by the eyeball-like appearance of the hemicycle-shaped diffuser at its center. The lamp, of stylized design, combines lacquered metal and brass for the tubular stem with blue-green glass in the conical diffuser that tops it, giving it a minimalist and elegant aesthetic.
Angelo Lelli was an Italian designer born in Rome in 1911 and died in Capri in 1979. He studied architecture at the University of Rome before turning to industrial design. He is the author of iconic lamps in the history of design, especially those created with Arredoluce.
