Mategot was a French-Hungarian designer, one of the most prominent in French design in the 1950s. He also made tapestries. He was noted for pioneering the use of an innovative material and technique known as Rigitulle, which favored the weightless and modern character of his creations. He established workshops in Paris and Casablanca to guarantee the quality of his products. He is currently represented in important collections such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Centre Georges Pompidou in the same city, and others.
