The "Grand Repos and Ottoman" chair was designed by Antonoi Citterio for the firm VITRA. It is a design that provides unparalleled comfort thanks to its ample padding, comfortable armrests and a synchronized mechanism discreetly hidden under the upholstery. This chair allows the user to change from an upright to a reclining position for resting, with the option of locking the backrest at any angle. The strength of the backrest can be manually adjusted according to the user's weight.

Architect and designer Antonio Citterio, who lives and works in Milan, has been collaborating with Vitra since 1988. Together they have produced a series of chairs and office systems, as well as products for the Vitra Home Collection. The Citterio Collection is constantly expanding.

Antonio Citterio studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and in 1972 he began his activity as a consultant and designer in the field of industrial design. Between 1987 and 1996 he worked with Terry Dwan at Studio Citterio/Dwan. From 1990 to 1992 he taught at the Domus Academy in Milan, and from 1993 to 1995 he was an external examiner in furniture design at the Royal School in London, before accepting a teaching post at the Sapienza University in Rome in 1997. In 1999, together with Patricia Viel, he founded Antonio Citterio and Partners, a multidisciplinary studio in Milan. He later taught at the University of Italian Switzerland, where he has held a chair since 2006. His designs are currently part of prestigious collections such as the MoMA in New York.
