“Battuto” vase, 1940.
Blue Murano glass.
With Venini stamp on the base.
Measurements: 24 x 14 x 14 cm.
Carlo Scarpa considered him one of the great Italian designers worldwide, occupying a key position in the evolution of his family's design. Currently, the unique pieces of Direño and Scarpa Furniture can be found at auctions such as Christie's, obtaining auctions as relevant as "An Easel", a unique easel that managed to reach the 2018 or "A Showcase on Stand", a unique showcase worth 230,000 euros. to pay off this year.

Carlo Scarpa studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts of the City of Venice, where he graduated in 1926. A prolific designer passionate about glass as a material, in the late twenties he designed his first furniture, starting in artistic circles. Venice, where he met and became involved with important designers such as Giuseppe Ungaretti, Carlo Carra, Lionello Venturi, Diego Valeri or Giacomo Noventa. From 1933 he began working with Paolo Venini's glass factory, a collaboration that lasted until 1947. His first exhibition took place at the 1932 Venice Biennale and two years later at the Milan Triennale. Despite his broad and visionary talents, Scarpa designs relatively few furniture designs, which are primarily delivered for site-specific installations for private clients.
