Alfonso Fraile studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, in Madrid, and exhibited individually for the first time in 1957. In the early sixties he joined the New Spatialism group, with whose members he shares a renewed taste for figuration. Throughout his career he was awarded the National Painting Prize (1952) and the Critics' Prize of the Ateneo de Madrid (1963), and exhibited individually in the most important Spanish galleries, such as: Galería Theo, Kreisler or Soledad Lorenzo (Madrid). He also participated in international exhibitions such as the Venice and São Paulo Biennials. He is currently represented in important museums and collections, including the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid.
