Painter, engraver and writer, Gustavo Cochet worked between his native Rosario and Barcelona. In 1919 he will present his first exhibition in Barcelona, in the Dalmau room, and the following year he settles in Paris. In 1923 he held his first exhibition in the French capital, at the Fabre Gallery, and in 1928 he exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid, and also in Bilbao and Perpignan. In 1939 he went into exile in France and from there he was repatriated to Argentina, where he lived for the rest of his life. He will teach art since 1941, and since then he will publish several books and will obtain prizes such as the Acquisition of the Santa Fe Salon (1945). In 1968 the Juan B. Castagnino Museum of Rosario dedicated a retrospective exhibition to him. Currently Cochet is represented in various public and private collections, and is preparing the opening of a museum with his name in the Argentine city of Funes.
