Jean Le Gac is one of the most important representatives of the "New Figuration", a trend that recovers figurative art after the rise of Russian and American abstraction. He worked as a drawing teacher and was also passionate about literature. His early works combine photographs, drawings and poetic texts. Narrative presides over his work both textually and graphically. Along with Boltanski, Messager or Jochen Gerz, he is part of a Narrative Art that draws from the artistic tradition but introduces a new sense of humor, contemporary issues, current problems.
