Graduated in Law at the Complutense University of Madrid, his vocation was late - he made his first exhibition in 1967 - but he achieved an international projection, with exhibitions in New York and a tour in Japan. Álvaro Cunqueiro said of his watercolors that they harbored "the permanent joy of a spring morning". He also said that he took his paintings of Berbés to a country where watercolor is almost a national sport, Japan. He received the appointment of Distinguished Vigués by unanimous vote of the groups of the City Council of Vigo.
