BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
GEORGES LELEU (France, active in the early 20th century).
Pair of soffits, first third of the 20th century.
Molded frosted glass. Nickel-plated metal structures.
Signed.
Measurements: 20 x 16 x 8,5 cm.
Pair of Art Deco wall panels based on the geometrization of molded shapes. They are a creation of Georges Leleu, who founded a decoration company in Paris in the early 20th century that closed in the 1930s.
Generally, shades like those in the bidding soffits were manufactured for Leleu by Verreries des Hanots. And, like almost all Hanots screens, they almost always have small internal cracks due to the cooling methods used by Hanots after the thick screens came out of the molds.
