Outstanding ceramist and painter formed in the school of ceramics of Sèvres, where he was a disciple of Salvetat and Regnault, Daniel Zuloaga was the uncle of the famous painter Ignacio Zuloaga. He was the founder, together with his brothers, of the Royal Factory of La Moncloa. Later he also had workshops in Vallehermoso, Segovia and Pasajes de San Juan. He made numerous ceramic murals, such as those on the facade of the Palacio de Velázquez or the stove of the Palacio de Cristal del Retiro, and exhibited individually in various parts of Spain, being of special relevance his 1916 exhibition in the Sala Parés in Barcelona, where he obtained great success in sales and public. He also taught at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid, from 1889. He was a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Zaragoza, and the year after his death a posthumous exhibition was dedicated to him at the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid. He is currently represented in the museum that bears his name in Segovia.
