Art Deco circular jewelry box in hand-painted ceramic with floral decoration. It has a black pompom as a handle.
Georges Bastard was born into a family with a long history of marquetry craftsmen. He trained at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris and participated frequently in the Salon des Artistes Français from 1902. His production stands out for working delicate materials, such as mother-of-pearl, shell and ivory. His production abounds in boxes, paper cutters, bonbonnieres, cups and jewelry, and leaves a significant role to the fans. His work is currently preserved in the Musée d'Orsay and the Pompidou Center, among others.
