This large centerpiece is distinguished by its eclectic character as it fuses Japanese enameled decoration with French moldings in gilded bronze. The oval-shaped vessel is hand-painted with alternating panels of flowering plants in enamels close to the Green Family, set off in pavilions of white background and gilt outline. Set in elaborate gilt bronze French mounts, the upper third has an openwork molding to create a pot pourri. It has a domed lid, likewise decorated with panels of flowering plants, topped by a pineapple-mounted finial. The entire piece is raised on a circular foot on which rest three claw feet and scrolls supporting the vessel.
